About Your Practitioner
Robin Carter, RN, LE
As a child, I recall sitting at my grandmother’s vanity in her bedroom while the rest of the family visited in the living room. I would sort through her vast collection of beauty products, smelling this and that, and sampling her many coral-colored lipsticks. It was a wonderland of discovery and joy for me, and clearly my childhood love for products and beauty is something I carry into my daily work!
After four years at college and another five at Whole Foods Market in various roles- from baker to body care buyer, my formal career in the beauty business began with a German holistic skin care company.
During my ten years there, I had the honor and privilege of traveling the US and Europe studying, and eventually teaching, skills in therapeutic lymphatic touch and an integrative approach to skin health. While there, I immersed myself in plant knowledge and product composition, and how these formulations work on the layers of the skin to support cellular functions or address dysfunctions.
Within the approach was an inherent understanding that the skin mirrors the inner life of the body, and through diet and lifestyle, we can improve the health of the skin. While in this role, I had the opportunity to experience facial and body treatments from some of the top spas in the U.S., to the independent holistic esthetician in Southern Germany. The takeaway for me through this unique experience was the idea that individual care is the ultimate luxury.

After 20 years in Esthetics and a mandatory Covid shut down, I decided to pursue a nursing degree, realizing that my interests in aging interventions went beyond basic skin care. What I found while completing my ASN, is that nursing made me a better Esthetician, and being an Esthetician made me a better nurse.

Today I blend my love for the skin care industry by teaching the art and science of esthetics at Institute of Skin Science while maintaining a small clientele in Southern NH. On the weekends you might find me at the barn or in our greenhouse, and most definitely in the kitchen preparing homegrown, homemade food for my blended family of 6.

I look forward to seeing you!
